Unicode or Discord Markdown?
Unicode changes the characters. Markdown adds formatting instructions to a message. Copy these literal examples into chat; they are not display-name styles.

Discord name fonts for your corner of the server.
A display name needs to work in a busy member list as well as on a profile. Compare compact, bold, and gothic letters using your own name. For messages, the native Markdown examples above explain another way to add emphasis.
DISPLAY NAME
Discord display name fonts
Try a short monospace or small-caps treatment that friends can recognize quickly. Look at the name beside your avatar and in chat before keeping it. Styled characters belong in a display name field that accepts them; the unique @username has different rules.
Try your textSERVER NICKNAME
Discord server nickname fonts
A server nickname can suit a particular group: your first name for a study server, or a compact team name for a gaming community. Keep any required role or clan prefix readable. Whether you can change a server nickname depends on that server’s permissions.
Try your textGOTHIC LETTERS
Gothic Discord text for a short name
Gothic letters can suit a fantasy character or a themed community. Compare a short word before styling a longer name; dense letters can become harder to tell apart in the member list. If you only want bold chat text, use Discord Markdown instead.

Choose the right Discord name field
Your unique @username accepts lowercase a-z, digits 0-9, underscores, and periods; styled Unicode letters do not belong in that field. Display names allow a broader character set. A server nickname can override your display name in that server, subject to its permissions. Check your result in the member list and on mobile before keeping it.
Discord Fonts Generator FAQ
Can I use these fonts in my Discord @username?+
No. The unique username field has a restricted character set. Try a Unicode style in a display name or permitted server nickname instead, and check the result in Discord.
Should I use Unicode or Markdown for Discord messages?+
Use Markdown when you only need bold, italic, or strikethrough in chat. The letters stay ordinary text. Unicode changes the characters themselves and can render or be read aloud differently.
Why does my Discord server show a different name?+
A server nickname can override your display name within that server. Check the server profile and nickname settings, and remember that your permissions may limit editing.
Can I copy gothic letters into a Discord name?+
Try the Gothic result in your display name or a permitted server nickname. Check the exact characters in Discord before saving; appearance can vary across devices.
How do I make bold Discord chat text without special letters?+
Use Discord Markdown: put two asterisks before and after the words, as in **Hello team**. This formats ordinary text rather than replacing it with Unicode lookalikes.
Why does a Discord name show empty boxes?+
The device or font may lack a glyph for one of the copied characters. Switch to a simpler treatment, remove decorations, and compare the result on another device.
